The Texas wing of the Dance Gallery Festival features twelve acts, each 20 minutes, exhibiting the works of upcoming choreographers. It provides a platform for upcoming dance artists to showcase their work.

Astrid von Ussar created the Dance Gallery Festival in hopes of giving rising artists in the dance world a platform despite the lack of adequate performing spaces.

Associate Artistic Director Andy Noble was instrumental in bringing the festival to the Sam Houston State University dance theater. Choreographers and performers from all over the world have performed on the GPAC stage.

"Old fashioned southern hospitality" as Noble puts it, sets Texas apart from the rest and makes the Huntsville/Houston area ideal for hosting the festival.
